Canadian cuisine has undergone the influence of European culinary traditions. For example the French influence in Quebec can not be denied. The fact that Canadians speak two languages (English and French) essentially reflects what they eat and drink. That’s why Canadian cuisine has much in common with American and French. As for everyday food, most of Canadians try to get both use and pleasure out of well prepared food. Because of the fact that country has long coastline, there is a great variety of seafood. The central plains of Canada are known to have first-class beef and agricultural products. Throughout Canada, maple syrup is popular, this fact emphasises the significance of the maple tree, (remember the flag of Canada). Barbecued food, beef, and corn dishes, such as sweet corn pancakes are also Canadian favorites. Berries such as blueberries and saskatoon berries are the usual filllings of the pancakes and waffles. The most popular alcohol drinks are beer and whiskey, which are of high quality. Nonalcoholic favorites in Canada are spruce beer (made from spruce trees, a specialty of eastern Canada), and apple and cherry ciders.
